Each week ArkansasVarsity.com will select Players of the Week and publish the award winners each Tuesday. Coaches and fans are urged to send in weekly top performers after Friday night's game to Luke@ArkansasVarsity.com. This will greatly insure that we select the correct player for each award.
NOTE: Each overall Player of the Week is placed in the running for the annual ArkansasVarsity.com Mr. Football award which is awarded each December.
Week One Player of the WeekWalter Ashley - Pine Bluff Ashley ran over, around, and through the Fort Smith Northside defense Friday night, where he amassed 115 yards rushing, 154 yards receiving, and had 222 return yards for a total of 491 all-purpose yards on the night. He also scored four touchdowns. The Zebras will need a big performance from Ashley once again this week as they take on the Watson Chapel Wildcats.
North West Player of the WeekDayton Winn - Pea Ridge Winn had a spectacular night for Blackhawks where he ran for 225 yards and five touchdowns. The amount of carries Winn had was not given to ArkansasVarsity.com, but regardless, he had an excellent night on the gridiron.
